Former Stereophonics star discovered this morning at home
Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable was found dead in his south Wales home this morning (Monday, June 7).
The 40-year-old musician is understood to have been discovered by his mother, Mable, 79, some time after 5am.
The exact circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known. The death is not being treated as suspicious. ”Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and this has happened. It has not sunk in yet,” said his mother.
Cable’s death comes a little over 24 hours after his former band The Stereophonics became the first band to sell out the Cardiff City Stadium. It is not yet clear whether Cable attended the gig himself, but he has stayed active in the music industry since being sacked from the group in 2003.
As well as hosting his own radio show for Kerrang!, he was involved in various musical projects, including his latest band Killing For Company, which was due to play Download festival on June 12.
In Cable’s final interview with The Big Issue Cymru last summer, he spoke about his love of being a family man since leaving The Stereophonics and his involvement in a children’s literacy campaign through the Welsh Assembly called Read A Million Words Together.
